Gollum assskss uss a riddle, do we anssswer it, my precioussss? SSSSssss???? I just wanted to have a different perspective on Gollum from all the others here at Elfwood. very evil-looking indeed. a bit goblin-ish, but who am I to judge? A great pic. evil, yet a bit cute in some way

*tells himself not to do YET ANOTHER Gollum inmitation, on account of those being abundant in comments all over Elfwood*

The picture Blew I haven't seen anything so bad, the original by J.R.R Tolkein was amazing.

:-) Ralph A. Attanasia replies: "I wasn't aware that Tolkien illustrated as well as wrote, nor have I seen any of his illustrations, if such exist. However, what I think you meant to imply was that I didn't do the character justice. Well, feel free to go screw yourself. I'm not here to please you."

GOLLUM! I don't care if he's a bit nasty, or whatever. I still loves him! And THIS, my friend, is a wonderous Gollum you have here. Infact, he's perfect! Quite close to how I saw him.
Don't much like the way he loks in the 2nd movie at all! Books are better than movies...
Anywhoo. I adore this *grins*
Lovely Gollum...not Smeagol, Gollum ^-^
*squeaks* I love it..okay...I'll be heading off now. Enough pawing at this picture eh?
*scurries off to look at the rest of the gallery*

Gollum's not evil 8
JRRT never actually drew Gollum, mostly just Middle-Earth landscapes and such, so no one actually knows what Gollum looks like. I have some complaints with this one (the nose?) but I know better than to voice them.

I like this dude much better than the movie vision. This face is sort of what I imagined when I was reading the Hobbit, and before I saw the movie.

Allrighty, big Hobbit/LotR debate...Yayness...

I have to agree with "MateriaAtra", about two things actually...
1)Tolkien does NOT say Gollum was once a hobbit, only a hobbit-related creature, says so in the movie, and in the books, i double-checked both!
2)Gollum, talks to both himself and the ring. When he says "my precious" he is talking to the ring, "my precious/present/gift" all that...Because he was, after such a long time with only the ring, accustomed to talk to it, so when he ("looooost, my precious is looooost")lost the ring, he continued talking to it anyway.
And when he does not say my precious, he's indeed talking to himself! Gollum being the evil part of him that the ring brought up, and Smeagol is who he used to be, before the ring corrupted him...
He is, let us say, schizophrenic!!! He has two personalities, two sides, and therefore, talks to himself! But "my precious" does indeed refer to the ring!

Now, to the amazing picture!!! 1
I love this, as someone said before, it's a more "stylized" drawing of Gollum! And i really like that!!!
He looks so creepy, i've allways loved Smeagol, and pictured him as pathetic, as AGAIN someone said before me(must...stop..repeating...aaaaargh)...But I still think this is one of the best Gollum/Smeagol drawings around...
The perspective is nice, with the feet a bit behind him, it's really great!!!
And my favourite part of the drawing are the eyes! They are what gives him character and life!!!
Good work and have a cookie!!!

((Oh, and to the m0r0n up there who has no taste, because this picture is absolutely great, Tolkien did illustrate his books(well, the hobbit anyway), but i'm fairly sure he never drew gollum!!! So there!!!))

Not schizophrenia, Anja. Gollum suffers from at least two psychological disorders: multiple personality and obsessive compulsive. Maybe more if you analyze him enough. Anyhow, he's my favorite LoTR character, and I've saved this creative work to my hard drive. Yess, yess, filthy, tricksie, false Hobbitss.

wow.. I never realized that an original piece of art would invoke a debate so heated. This piece is ur own original take on Gollum.. and I must say that I quite enjoy it. It's very nice to see the characters of a loved book portrayed much differently than what you would expect. I think you did an excellent job. And I especially love the grin of malice upon his face. ( I do hope u find ur precious.)
