| 30 Dec 2002 | Robert J. Mackellar | Paladins weren`t created by Terry Brooks. but anyway.. this one isn`t too bad. A little on the chubby side I think but what the heck. | |
| 21 Apr 2003 | Jacquelyn 'Jackie' Cook | Wow... great Paladin.. the armour is spectacular as well as the anatomy of both horse and rider.. Much better then anything I could do on a good day.. lol .. Good going, keep it up! | |
| 21 Aug 2003 | Sage <acosmo@ihu...au> | I agree. The Paladin looks slightly chubby. To whoever said the Paladin's hair looked funny, the helm was made like that, so says this article,
"A Paladin's Helm was created to give the paladin the look that he/she had hair, unlike knights, when they were seen they looked bald. The helm had a slit for the hair to come up and out of, but occasionally the helm could scratch and break the skin on the paladin's head."
| 7 Sep 2003 | Pixiefrog | That's very cool, but note what I said about the guinea pig and the owl. Wow, really? HE CAN LOTS IF HE WANT'S TO! Why would she want to research Arabian flouncy costumes? (I've done it) (all I seemed to get was harem-type, v_v | |
| 7 Apr 2004 | Erin 'lanny' Shaw | Oh POOEY! Good grief, firstly, believe me when I say that many knights and paladins (Who were definately NOT created by Terry Brookes) wore surcoats(What goes over the top of your armour) and caparisons (Horses costume) a hell of a lot more ornate than this!! I think the problem is not that the paladin in question is chubby (what with all the extra padding, muscle and armour etc, but rather that perhaps his warhorse/destrier (jousting horse) has a small head in comparison to his body. (Incidentally, the paladins standard (Flag on pole) would be slightly longer, and if it is a lance then they were technically a horse and half's length from tip to tip. Standards were carried with the butt in a small cup attached to the stirrup iron, and lances were carried under the arm, or in a an extra section of armour attached to the brestplate.)
So ok, you can all rant and rage in reply to my comment, but I know what I'm talking about, you don't live in england and work for one of the biggest castles without picking up the whole history thing. so there. >.< (waits to hear the screams of wrath.)
Katy, may I just say how beautiful the designs are on cloak and caparison, this paladin must be a man of great importance as he has such an intricate crest. The whole picture gives the sense of how powerful and graceful the knights of old were, and how easily they put the fear of god into everybody else. I would also be very proud of myself if I had drawn such a good pic!!! Also, I'm sorry I had to rant in your comment space, and completely respect everybody elses ideas and opinions... feel free to delete at will! All the best!
| 7 Dec 2004 | Look at my comment!!!!! | Have you ever read "The Deed of Paksenarrion"? It is a great book, that I think that you would like if you are interseted in paladins and such. It i s by Elizabeth Moon. I read it in grade seven, and I am now in grade nine, and reading it again. Anywho, thought that might be interested. But that is kinda wierd since I don't even now you!
I love your drawings, they are amazing! 9I think that my favorite is "The Mother"
