SciFi and Fantasy Art: Archangel Jophiel: Heaven, Let Your Light Shine Down

This is the initial part of the Archangel Jophiel, who is supposed to guard the Tree of Life from the return of man. Also known as 'Beauty of God'. This image was to signify a few things for me. It was an attempt at increased contrast, a betterment of style and technique, and an attempt to get close to photorealism, like that of J.D. Hillberry. Seems I have failed to achieve any of the three prospects. Well, the image is just recently started, so I may still have hope of making a decent image. This image has been increased with 'stretch detail', which removes midtones and increases the extremes (giving the image an increase of maybe 10% contrast), and I added a blue tint to it, like in Archangel Gabriel. I'm still working with the shading on the face, so give me a few days to work out the kink on that one *LOL*

She is beautiful although the expression is quite curious... *laugh* I love the shading here, soft as always, but... I really like the blue hue you used... Brings something special... And the slighty curling hair is nice... Wonderful, once again.Thank you, Laura. I've been experimenting with the other color hues, but this blue one seems the most applicable to the images...

*heheh* Have you ever seen 'Batman'? If you are refering to the first of the series, yes, I have. Good movie! You know after the Joker takes over he makes that one chick wear the white mask? This kind of reminds me of that--only much prettier! =P I like. I remember, but no acid here...just erasers! *LOL*

*having just read all the comments on this picture: blink, blink* You mean I DIDN'T review this yet?!?! *gulps* Sorry. Well, I don't think there's anything snobbish about her.. I like her just the way she is! (I mean seriously, why can't we have imperfect angels? Not that she'll be unperfect when finished.. y'know.. when she has a body and all *laugh*)*LOL* Well, some people don't like the aspect she has. I suppose it really doesn't matter, in all reality, but hey, it's fun to do!

The nostrils look a little odd, but that's probably due to the photoshop effect, as otherwise the shading is amazing. No, the nostrils are off because of my lack of talent. I have to be more careful. But thank you for the kind comment, Lisa!

I hear ya! I love the blue tint function, it gives an image more contrast, a fresher look, and an other-worldly glow! It does, but the computer does that 'touch'. I wish I could handle that effect without the need of computer programs. I wish I could do photorealism. I know you can. And as far as I am concerned, you are a fantastic painter who makes images that impact just as much as photorealism. One thing I've noticed is that you draw a LOT like my grandmother did, she was an amazing artist, one of the best I've ever seen! Heidi, I am honored for that comparison (blushing), but I am certain that your grandmother, like you, are the master artists!

How is it possible to draw pictures that look so realistic as this?! I'm impressed!! (But you've heard that from me now, haven't you 2)

Ahh my poor angel. Will you ever be finished.... Hey Rich. Thanks for visiting jumble of a gallery. I think it's getting a tad messey over there. Now, have a look around your gallery and tell me who has the more talent. That's right, you 2 If you want more proof then just take stock of the staggering number of comments you get. If you get so many return viwers you must be doing something right. We should all be so lucky 2
