SciFi and Fantasy Art: Koala (and the beast?)

Do you know Clyde Caldwells picture “Alerelan”. I wanted to show something similar with this picture: the sense of community between animal and human. It was my first picture after nearly six years without drawing. (1998, Pastels on ebony velourpaper, 50.5cm x 80cm)

THIS is pastels? In art class I used pastels and the picture SUCKED! And after six years!? Are you sure you weren't practicing in your sleep? 'Cause if I stopped right now and waited six years to draw again, my stick figures would be worse than my brothers! (And believe me, that's bad.) I have just two more things to add. No one, I mean no one, not even that guy that my sister and I have affectionately dubbed "The Happy Little Guy" that does landscapes, is worthy of you. The other thing I want to say is this. This is truly a Gift from God and you were born with it. I don't care what anyone says but this is what you were meant to do. Oh, and one last thing. Do you take students? I like to draw but I'm not too good at it at this point in time. I solemnly swear to improve my artwork as much as I can. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to compare with your worst drawing. (That is if you have a worst drawing...)

I love the face, but you must study anotomy. The arms and hands are not proportioned well to the body. The hand are too small, and the length of the arms are wrong and are twisted strangely. Above that, the position is unnatural. These can all be fixed, and then your paintings will be twice as beautiful.
Shibby, to the comment above, is a made-up word from an american move that is extremely funny and you probably won't understand a word of it.. But it means awesome, pretty much.

This is an amazing work, especially since it was done with natural media! The face, hair, fabric, skin tones are all beautiful. Very realistic, very excellent work.
May I ask if you used Sharon for reference?
Anyway, she is beautiful, and none of her facial proportions are off.
Impressive!

The only things I can see a tad goofy about this is 1) yes, that right arm looks a bit curved between the shoulder and elbow, and 2) her shirt is wet, but her hair is completely dry. How do they do it! 2

Just wondering if there is a reason that she resembles the wife of Steve Irwin so closely? It makes it quite fitting that she's holding the koala.
