My name is Alissa Rindels, I am 24 years old, and I am currently a student of Art Instruction Schools and it is working out wonderfully for me. It has made it much easier for my unique styles and techniques to grow, which was always quietly discouraged in traditional education, especially here in Iowa, where mundane landscapes are the norm and certainly not religious abstract or high fantasy. My main influence artistically is Brom, and I always keep in mind his idea that it is not the technique that is especially important, but the end result. I love working with many materials: Pastels, ink, oil and acrylic paint, watercolor, pencil, etc. and so I try not to have a rigid plan when I am working on a piece, but focus mainly on flow and color to see where the medium and current takes me. For me, it is the most exciting, and satisfying, to watch something happen in front of you that you were not expecting, but that you can be pleasantly surprised with and proud of. I believe that art should not be judge solely on the artistic know how or technique execution, but by what emotion the flow of colors and subject carries for the artist and his/her viewers. That is what art is meant to be after all, a vessel of emotions, thoughts, or dreams. Nothing is more rewarding, than for a viewer to tell you how your artwork makes them feel, or what thoughts it brings to mind. Everyone who knows me, knows that Brom is my hero, and he is a large influencing factor in my art, especially when I am getting discouraged. Some other artistic influences of mine are Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Justiniano etc.

| 7 Jan 2005 | Fellow Iowan Artist | You do have talent, As for the 'Your art lacks unity, flow....and all together just doesn't work.' How can art be lmited by such standard, orthodox principals.I am only in highschool, but that doesnt limit my mind now does it? | |
| 14 Jan 2005 | Lloyd Dennis Zacarias | An amazing gallery to be sure. The colors and underlying dark feel is understated and yet comes forth to the viewer. Outstanding work.
I am curious though as to what mediums do you use in your little bag of tricks fore I see several I think being used and on the same piece. In any case your arsenal of skills is brilliant.
| 6 Feb 2005 | Chelsa L. Dagley | Hi, ummm I don't know how what ur email is, so I'll just post something here. I would love to buy 'ascension' and definitely will when I get paid. I am currently writing a book where it fits the main god perfectly. It's really amazing how you've managed to practically catch my thoughts and put them on paper. I looked at your ebay site and found it in a print, and so I'll buy it soon But I wanted to ask you that if I ever got published, could I use it for my cover? If I did I would give you a percentage of the sales of course...anyways it's up to you, but no matter what I'm still buying it in print take care chelsa | |

| 17 Mar 2007 | Jason | Alissa,
You are a very skillful artist. Some of your pieces are truly masterful. Some of them invoke a shiver. They are quite emotive in places. Your colouring and style is very atmospheric. I really believe that you will produce even more magnificent pictures. These are very noteable!
| 10 Apr 2008 | Beth | Your work is very original and breathtaking. It’s very structured and complete, but swiming with colors to spark the imagination. I really enjoyed your gallery. Thanks, and keep it up! | |
