This started out as just a profile study, but I ended up with a picture of Phedre, the heroine in Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel trilogy. By the way, I highly recommend the books (Kushiels' dart, Kushiel's Chosen, and the upcoming Kushiel's Avatar) if you like intrigue. Although you have to beware of the content: Phaedre feels pleasure as pain, and her former occupation was that of a sort-of courtesan/spy. There are some rather graphic and slightly disturbing scenes regarding that, but they're such amazing books that they're still well worth it.

I've read these books and as much as the drawing is awesome it does not portray phedre as I imagine her. I love the picture though *shrug* all in all a good pieceI'm glad you like it... it actually doesn't really look like I picture her either, but I just thought it was a really Phaedre-ish pose. Thanks for commenting!

So far I've only read Kushiel's Dart. 2 But I'm lovin' the series already. Good job - this is the abeyante pose?

:-) Faith Burnham replies: "This isn't how I pictured abeyante, but you never know... Keep reading though, Avatar is by far the best of the trilogy!"

absolutely breathtaking. You have completely captured her. The posture, the regal quality she carries, her strength and beauty... She is just flawlessly Phedre. Gorgeous work.

Hm. Thats not exactly how I imagined her, but none the less, good work. I love the books and it's good to see that other people like them ^-^ (You guys rock!) I cried a lot in them, ecpecially when Hyacinthe became apprentice to The Master of the Straits. I like how you added the "Love as thou wilt..." It really adds to it.

I love the way the lines of her completed marque are crossed by welts. She looks like she just came from an assignation, and is either preparing for a scolding from Joscelin, or is about to tell Anafiel of her finds. This wouldn’t be during her time with Delaunay though, would it? Her marque went un-limned during her service to him. She must be with Joscelin then, for her marque was completed after she returned from Skaldia. Am I correct?
