SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fatso

Here's my lastest digital image. I sketched the outlines on paper, scanned it and then worked it on Photoshop. I started by applying a uniform background texture, then I mostly used the dodge/burn tool to work the chiaroscuro and its highlights. Some line tool helped with the details. It took me about 8 hours of work. I did it for a videogame software house that wanted me to show them if I could do this kind of stuff (tile art for quake-type videogames). When they saw it they wanted to hire me on the spot, but after all I had to turn down the offer since I wasn't considering moving to another state at the time.

I kno wthat I cannot fully appreciate the skill level required to achieve this amount of realism and detail using the digital medium. However, I know good sh*t when I see it. This rocks Roberto!!!

So let me get this straight? You had a single, flat background texture and sculpted this figure out of it? Simply amazing!

it takes me 8 hours just to finish a real good pencil drawing. but then... I suppose if you have some major skill with things like the burn tool and dodge and you know what to do with them(like I don't!) then whee.
anyway, this looks like a spike trap. it's like... "hmmm what does this do? *press* *SPIKE* *bloodydeath*"
