SciFi and Fantasy Art: Avalon's Crest

This is the crest of Hypertechnologies' Avalon Apartments,( Part of the Veyltrey Aerospace 'Camelot Cultural Complex' at Hypertechnologies inc.) where most of the Nu-Gen staff reside. The gryphon depicted is an Arlosian aquilleon (Pantheraquilas arlosi). The background is derived from the flag of Trinatia-the Tri-Nation Alliance which replaced the Usani Empire. The vertical line represents 'Dreamland sea'.It devides Westus from the rest. The horizontal line is the old 'Mason-Dixon' line which seperates Nothus from Sothus. I drew the original of the gryphon; on a small peice of paper in high school. It is one of the very few such drawings from High school that still exist. I incorporated it into the shield/ crest in 1993 but, never colorized it until March (Or there abouts) of 1998. I have always intended to make a 3D relief of this plaque, and, I will when I get the chance and the inspiration...I have finally replaced the digi-cam pic with a scanned pic. What do you think of it now?

You should put your stories in the Wyvern's library. They sound really interesting. I like the heraldic stuff and this is one of the best and most well thought out shields I've ever seen!

Perfect. I can't see a thing wrong! ^.~

I like here the way you put the traditional "heraldic look" together with your Sci-Fi ideas.

I've noticed that your pictures have very detailed (verbal) backgrounds. That makes them even more special. Joe-bob can draw a great gryphon, but it's just an gryphon, eh? If you can draw a gryphon with history, even if it's a bad picture (yours are great, by the way) it's better than Joe-bob's could ever be. ps-I really respect someone with the creativity to not only draw something original, but to give it its own story, as well.

ooooo....creative and an interesting pose here....and still love the bright color...it is obvious that gryphons are your forte'......my only dribble is to clean up the white space for a more pro look!

Fabulous! What else can I say? It boggles the mind how you could invent this stuff. I kind of hope you are wrong about the USA turning into the "Usani Empire", but with that awful "Patriot Act" being passed by congress and the house and senate (But, not by "We the People") I can see the beginnings of a totalitarian government. It's scary! I hope if it does happen that your brighter future will also happen.*Wants pet Giffin & Dinosaur*
