SciFi and Fantasy Art: Czhiala & Drymyra

These are two very old dream inspired critters. The top one is the Czhiala (Pronounced Jzee-ah-lah, or, Shy-ala)Depending on local dialect. I drew this one with a four color pen in Home room in early 1982 (first year of my new high school)The Home Room teacher called it 'Dungeons & Dragons' stuff as a derogatory remark. Thing was; I was never into D&D 'Sword & Sorcery' type stuff. (Mythical critters , yes! But, not 'magic' realms) Go figure. *Shrugs*.... The bottom one is the Drymyra. It is descended from the same sea serpent-like molluskoid and has evolved into a ghostly plasma energy life form. I have had it up in my Lothlorien gallery, but, it more belongs here, because it's from literally outer space! I have posted my story 'The Cloud' which is about these creatures in the Wyvern's Library.

8 Nov 2000	Sarah H.	Loading... Oh Wow! I saw almost the same emblem when I was abducted by aliens ten years ago!!!!! They got a winged snake symbol on their suits that looks like your little icon on the top picture! Were you abducted--or are you an alien?!!!

Your birds are very beautiful--I can see why they would inspire a story. And your Czhiala and my bird do look alike! How weird. But as far as being ethereal and dream-inspiring, I think yours is better. Besides, mine's just a doodle, it doesn't have a cool story behind it. ;-) --C.

Now it is back in loth again... as some of my own scifi stuff is... but the merge was good, I think, because its really difficult to chose sometimes if something is Scifi or Fantasy. Your stuff usually belongs to your very own one world, and so its both. I love the one on the bottom very much. I like the other one too, but the Drymyra makes a cool Tattoo, did you know? Well okay, I think I'll stop commenting at this one at the moment and go on with the others later!
