SciFi and Fantasy Art: MIDNIGHT STRETCHING

This is one of two versions of Midnight Stretching which I am currently working on for my 'Midnight in Camelot' series. Right now this is just my regular- fox sized- version of Midnight. This version is a color experiment using one of two very old rough sketches which were originally inspired by a dream about a gryphon. Here Midi is shown on his favorite rug. Yes. His eyes are closed and his crest feathers are lying flat along the back of his neck. The colors are those of the Shandaran Pantheraven, however, they could work just as well for the giant version in the story. I have noticed that most of my very best works were dream inspired. I wonder if that is true for other artists. Please Let me know OK?....

Oh. I love this! Never thought of a Half Panther / Half raven before. I love Ravens. They're so smart you know? Of course you do or you wouldn't have this beautiful animal would you?

love the color combination....as far as dream inspired art....I have actually never used a dream as inspiration for my art.....and, it's probably a good thing cuz my gallery would be a strange and horrific nightmarish movie....hmmmm? maybe you got something there????

OOOOH He's the most beautiful gryphon in the Woods! I mean that! Sure it's not a painting type picture, or computer enhanced in Photoshop or something. So What if you use just pens and pencils; your creatures are so real and lively and original and with all those wonderful story elements to back them up. You didn't get your ideas from the D&D RPG stuff on the WEB. Your creatures have a very different feel that I wish would get the attention they really deserve. Well, don't put yourself down so much. Your time will come. Especially if you keep making art like this and the unicorn vs gryphon and your self portrait......I really believe this! Really! And I can't wait 'till Disney or Warner Brothers or some other take an interest in your world and we get tto have a major movie or cartoon show with these wonderful characters in them....I hope it becomes reality before I "outgrow" the PVC cartoon figure collections on my wall shelf (Oh don't worry. I'll never outgrow these things>>I just went out and bought a 102 Dalmations figure set and they're sooooo cute, I put the bird on the very top rung-haven't even seen the movie yet either *hehe*).

This is fantastic for a "Drawing". Looks almost like a painting! He's truly the most beautiful creature you have, and they're ALL beautiful!!!

My best artwork, dreams, and stories all belong in a cycle of inspiration. 2 I definitely know where you're coming from. Anyway, the detail in this picture is great. I wish I were this good with animal anatomy! It took me so long to get a decent handle on the human form.

A Chinese philosopher posed this one: "Am I a man dreaming I'm a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming I'm a man..." or something similar. A third of my life is spent in the Dreaming, and therein my deepest ideas take form and swim from the long ocean to surface at the conscious level, and from there, take flight. I never will take joy in insomnia... Oh yeah! The Gryphon! Midnight is gorgeous, and so sleek! That purple and black combination is stunning, absolutely stunning. I really like the form itself, especially the facial expression and the way the wings are folded. You are so a great artist!
