SciFi and Fantasy Art: Daughter of Re

I think this was the last colored-pencil picture I've done, and it's old. Goes to show you how often I do that, I suppose. Maat is a half-grown sphinx that has decided she belongs to a young gorgon girl; she's spent her entire life in captivity (hence the chain and battered collar) and doesn't completely understand the concept of being her own person. Drawn for her player on Strange Attractor MUSH, who shall remain anonymous.

I really like sphinxes, ought to draw them more. For some reason, despite lions being primarily African animals, I don't usually see them shown with obviously African features like this. Go fig.

Hey you drew a Sphinx 2 Cool! It is interesting to see a Sphinx with African features, but since Sphinxes derived mythologically through Greek and Egyptian cultures, you see them as such 2 She's really cute! I love it ^^

I see your point that sphinxes are normally caucasian women. I like seeing people mucking around with the ’norms’ of fantasy.
