SciFi and Fantasy Art: Faerietales (revisited)

I *finally* finished the colored version of this picture. After giving up on Photoshop, it was just taking too long, I did it in colored pencil instead. It was on rough paper which gave an interesting texture that I'm not sure if I like or not.

Wow! I can't believe more people haven't commented on this picture. It's really gorgeous. I love how the colors blend together so subtly. You did a good job. Also, this picture IS like a fairytale....it reminds one of their childhood. 2

This is the most BEAUTIFUL *_* thing I have ever seen in my life. You've brightened my day. I love it12. I am glad you used coloured pencil- anything else just wouldn't have... fit, you know?

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love all of the little intricate details and especially love the colored pencils. I have just recently begun to do more colored pencils because I like all of the different colors..I did a search on colored pencil work and your picture was one that came up. I really need to try this style of colored pencil..I tend to saturate my pictures, for some reason when I'm coloring the white of the paper showing through just makes me want to cover it up more, although I love this style when other people do it. I guess I'm just weird 2

This is exquisite. I love the attention to detail that you set forth, and the fact that it is rendered in colored pencil (my favorite color medium) also really appeals to me. I agree with a few previous commentors -- the colored pencil really gives it that special oomph and delicacy to it. Shading is done well, and the composition itself is stunning.

The colors on this just blow me away. And the details...Man. May I use it on a tour?

This is just...breathtaking! The delicate color and detail are gorgeous. How long did it take to draw and paint? What medium did you use? She's such a beautiful fairy, and the background is fantastic too. It looks kind of like a design you'd see on a tarot card, but I don't like tarot cards, I'm a christian and I don't believe in them.

:-) Sarah-Louise Mitchell replies: "(It's actually not based on Tarot cards,it's based on the poster-art of the 1920s, Art-Noucau style, and Alfons Mucha in particular. The medium is coloured pencil, and I forget how long it took to do it - about 3 weeks altogether I think)."

YOU'RE NOT SURE IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT?!?! Really! It's fantastic! How do you draw like that? I've been trying to draw like that for years now and all I get is a crumpled piece of paper! Seriously, it's BEAUTIFUL! I really love the way the faerie's (?) dress is whispy. Very classical!
