SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Cowboy

Daniel Eastman was a simple man. After a hard childhood living on the frontier during the war of 1812, he tried to settle down with a family and work as a homesteader. But a raid by robbers left him with nothing, his family killed. After that, he became a wanderer. All he needed was the clothes on his back, a whiskey in one hand, and the feel of a Smith & Wesson pistol in the other. His roguish ways led him to the far west and the budding town of San Francisco. Brushes with the local deputy left him in trouble with the law, ...and a local gang of thieves. He was drawing unwanted attention to themn. He was in at a bar one night, indulging himself in the house special, unbeknowest of the members of the gang who were watching him. After he left, they grabbed him and pushed him into an alley. Daniel was honed by years of bar brawling and roughing it. Two of the thieves were down within a minute, but Daniel was outnumbered, and a gun is equal to a large amount of skill. Four shots rang out, three of them piercing his chest. Still he fought, but the odds won. One of the briggands stabbed him in the stomach twice and he finally gave into the ebb of death within him. The remainder of the gang left him to die in the alley. That is when Sophia found him, she had seen him also in the bar, disquised with her magic. To save his strength as her own, she Embraced him into Clan Nosferatu. Daniel accepted his new life and the strength and power that came with it. He serves Sophia as her bodyguard and right hand man. Even in the modern times, he still dawns himself in the paraphonalia of his era: A dusty black cowboy hat and crossbelts of bullets. This old cowboy won't die easily. Those who walk the Nosferatu tunnels know him only as The Cowboy.

this is going to sound morbid, but - very nice work with the bullet holes in his chest. The shadows are ominously lovely, and the detailing on his gunbelts are excellent.
