| 16 Jan 2000 | Dina El-Kharouf | This one is definately my favorite! keep it up (I thought, why not try to express the fear in her eye?-would be very cool Sayward E. Hoff replies: "I think I remember an old saying....Death is your worst fear when you're young...but as you get older, death is almost like a lover, and when you're ready, you embrace it...or something like that. This person is afraid of nothing. Not even death" | |
| 19 Mar 2000 | Julie K. Gele' | Scratchboard is definately one of my favorite mediums, though I get so little practice with it! The detail and realism on this is fabulous and the concept... wow... I like how the expression doesn't seem very shocked or afraid, just calmly taking it in as if it was expecting this. It's really cool. | |
| 25 Jul 2001 | Candace L Benjamin | Awesome pic. I'm really into your etchings. They're so lively | |
| 30 Jul 2001 | H. T. Y. A'Deline | an exhilarating intense piece. The extreme close-up is the most marvellous way to look at a situation. The eye is a divine tool of expression and impression and you have captured that one moment of utter, glorious fear acutely. | |
| 21 May 2002 | Mari Nicole Fray | Way cool, very neat concept! I love scratchboard... | |
| 18 Jun 2002 | Child of Destiny | : ushes jaw back up to the rest of face:: wow...that is awesome, I love it! It looks incredible. I love the scratchboard medium, and it was a good choice for this pic. Keep up the good work!! ;-) Sayward E. Hoff replies: "It actually looks much better when not scanned. There's really no way to catch the right lighting with a scanner. " | |
| 2 May 2003 | Foil_lone_wolf <foi | It is a great job. Wonderful style.
I have had to solve similar scanning problems, and the easiest way to solve it (though not neccessarily the cheapest) is to take a photo (which will catch the light very well) and scan the photo. Obviously a digital camera allows you to scip a step if it's of the right quality. | |
