SciFi and Fantasy Art: Female Gladiator II

So, debate has flaired over the tastefulness, realism and execution of the other piece in my gallery called Female Gladiator. On a whim, the other night, I set about redoing the same concept. The first was done when I was at the age of 16 and this one was done at the age of 26 so this is the result of ten years of practice. I'm sure there are problems with this one as well, but I think a certain maturity is apparent in my work. I found it interesting to reproduce my own work using knowledge and skills I've developed since the first. Colored Pencil on 11x14 Bristol.

Although her head looks a little to small this pic is much better than the other one. Well done. The experience shows. Much more realistic.

The picture itself is lovely, much improved from the first piece of the same vein. I like the mood of it, Downcast yet strong. My only suggestion is that if indeed she is ment to be a gladiator, perhaps you should look up some actual armor worn by the gladiators. She appears to be more of a 'knight'-ish fighter in her current garb. Just a thought! ^.^

Shes like totally flat chested, is that what you're used to seeing everyday, poor you lol, nice colouring btw lol

I like the picture.
When it comes to the flat chest its ok. I do not like pictures of female with huge boobs that look like made of silicone lol.
She might have a bit more muscle, thats all

Is that a guy or a girl??? still good but that was just puzzling me

Um, the shape of the face, the feminine hair, the dainty demeaner, the obvious lack of a male sex organ, & you don't know what gender it is?! It's a bloody shirtless person with seethrough loincloth! You don't need implants, (or obviously a brain) to understand someone's gender.

:-) Paul Phillip Wesley Scofield replies: "LOL .. Thanks Trev!"

Very nice! The mostly-flat chest and extra muscles truly fit the gladiator concept. (As anyone who's looked at ballet dancers or female body builders knows). You've done very well!

Hate it. Ugly.

It's good. Except gladiators would wear armor or clothes. It's not ugly. Maybe the person who said it's ugly is jealous because you are talented. Maybe he/she isn't good at drawing and they are telling you that it sucks so that they can make themselves feel better. That's my guess. IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY DON'T SAY IT AT ALL.

The nudity could be avoided but good otherwise. I half way agree with Galina. They are entitled to that opinion but it is true that it should have been constructive.
