SciFi and Fantasy Art: Druid In Thought

Originally taken from a photo dear friend of mine who follows the druidic tradition. In the original photo the sword was drawn in a menacing pose...but I didn't like it. It didn't portray her as I felt she truly was, so I improved it.

You did a marvellous job Sean, this was what I imagined when I think of a female druid...

I absolutely love the staff... I just can't draw wood and I love the way you do it. You managed to put a real-looking girl in a realistic pose conveying real expression... so serene!

All I can say is wow. That's about the first female druid picture, that is realistic. Awesome job.

This picture is beautiful - you seem to have captured the essence of the woman perfectly. Druids are peacemakers and there is an essential inner calmness about this piece. As someone following the druid path myself I really respond to this - I'd like to buy a print of it from you, seriously, as long as it doesn't cost too much! E-mail me.

Wonderful picture. Though I am not on the druidic path myself, I know a fellow student who is. The robe is wonderful: it's so nice to see a pic based on reality, and not what some hormone-ruled artist WANTS reality to be.

Tell your friend I wish her the best in her studies!

As a spokesmen of two vast languages that are very close to my culture, I see all the symbols summarized in but one picture. Put simply I'm greatful to feel the way I do about your masterful drawing. It even interests me that there are still druids out there, but please spread the word about Gaelic. I fear it will die out8

I've come to your page a thousand times. I even have a link of it from -my- page here (well, my stories page anyway). Of all the pictures you've done (since I've found a reason to love them all) I love this one the best. I remember when Melissa showed it to me years ago, how proud of it she was. You've done just what those above me have already said - you captured her. Don't know why I felt compelled to leave a comment tonight, especially after so many years, but we'll chalk it up to sentimentality. Please keep drawing, I look forward to updates...

:-) Sean C. Riley replies: "Nice to hear from you, Michelle. Thank you for the praise, and have no fear, I've taken up the ol' pencil and paper again! Now I just have to get off my lazy behind and scan some new stuff in. 2"
