SciFi and Fantasy Art: Serenity

Note to Critiquers
Medium
-Colored Pencil
-An ink pen (The kind they made me buy in my college art course. It's been a few years since I purchased the pen...and even drew this so I can't remember. But the tip is VERY small.)

Credit
-I believe in giving credit where it's due. So...
I used a photo referance for this picture. Her website is http://www.retrodiva.deviantart.com . (I don't know how to use the url thing on here... if you know, I beg of you...PLEASE tell me!)
The character and clothes are mine.

Side Note

Any and all critiques are welcome, but I just want you to know I drew this back in January of 2005.

The story of Serenity. (Her name is Serenity)
I was given Brian Froud's Faery Oracle and if anyone else owns it, then you know one card is blank for your very own faery guide. I toiled over what to do for a couple of months and finally gave up, as nothing came to me. One night, while I was sleeping I saw this bright, flaming orange hair and a face of light sky blue. She looked at me put her fingers to her lips *shhh* and then she pointed to the moon. I sketched out her head the next morning, knowing who she was.
The whole moon thing meant alot to me. I am Pagan and tend to lean towards the Goddess as opposed to the God. This was my calling to come back.

Obviously she is a "anime" elf. (Meaning she has long floppy ears instead of small pointed ones)
*This drawing was also originally draw for an LJ layout I was doing. I had it for quite a while.

I love your use of the thick, black outline here. It's very bold and adds a lot of character to the piece. She looks very curious and seems as though she is ready to spring into action. Very nice coloring job as well.

43 Shannon P Derr replies: "Thanks! *^-^*The thick outline is a technique I picked up in a penciling class, we had to use thickness (and darkness since it was pencil), but no "actual" shading. I think Serenity is rather spunky and bouncy, I'm glad it came across!"
