SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Horned Man

Celtic Mythology is scary. So's this guy. I mean, he's got antlers, eyes that glow like burning embers, and NO PANTS.

[Drawn and coloured entirely in Photoshop.]

Eyes that shine like Justice!

:-) Steve Dismukes replies: "I think it's the fingernails that are supposed to shine like justice - the eyes are what burns like a cigarette. That said, I refuse to dress this guy up in a short skirt and a loonnnng jacket. 14"

I like how you were able to convey the texture of his body, i mean the furt on it.
Lovely coloring, my only suggestion would be adding a bit more depth to the background, maybe make a darker line for the forestline, just seem that would make the image stand out even more.
But anyway, great work!

:-) Steve Dismukes replies: "Thankee. I was initially planning to have him under trees, and moonlight shining through gaps in the foliage. But then I realised that shading all those leaves would break my brain, so I didn't. ¬_¬"

He looks like someone who likes to hide in childrens' closets for fun. @_@ Scary, scary deer man. I like the detail on his fur though, and the antlers, and how the moon sorta makes him glow-y.

:-) Steve Dismukes replies: "He's more the sort to follow travellers in the wood at night, making noises in the underbrush and scaring them silly until they run away home in a blind panic. Well, that or moon them. "

viewing my way thru' your pics. I love this - my only query/comment is whether you intended the antlers to be asymetrical? The rest of him appears totally symetrical.

Oh and those eyes are stunning!!

That strangely reminds me of the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn cyclus by Tad Williams... an image like this appears there quite often, of a man with horns like this... Ineluki Storm King.
