SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lurking in the Dark

This picture was painted on canvas paper, which is why it looks a little...well...off. My scanner doesn't deal well with contours. The pic itself is of an odd creature I wrote about in a story. No one really knows what it is, so everyone calls it 'The Shadowflash', for the very good reason that that is really all one sees of it when it appears. When it is acctually sitting still, this is all that most people see. I'm sorry, but I removed the character sketch, it was only taking up space. Simply out, this is a canine/human creature with the eyes of a cat.

Great pictue! I read your "shadow in the dark" story, and came to see the picture. This is what I thought it is, really matches the character presented in the story!

in the mystical tranquility of the occluded shadows of annonymity - seeing and not being seen - the subtle threads of evolving probabilities and consiquence to pull and tug at - a little here - a little there - not too much - now moving on - now here - now there - these eyes too have i gazed outward from within (though i make no claim to being privy to all thier secret and hidden convolutions ... ~12

Lovely, lovely. It's very grabbing. Those eyes...brrr. As has been mentioned before, the atmosphere is very well done, very creepy, and I think the abstractness of it helps that very much. Quite, quite good. I'd ask for permission to print this up, but I don't think my printer would do it justice. C'est la vie. As to what it is? I see a lemur. A very large and unfriendly lemur. <g>

What I like in this one is the lighting. The dashes of lighter grays and whites and where you've placed them hint at a full moon, or possibly the twinkle of stars. The pose sends chills down my spine... *gets spooked and has to make sure there're no ooglies under her bed now*.
