SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dirty Little Dog-Men!!

A tribute to the artists of Dungeons & Dragons, this is another one of the pieces I like to keep here as a benchmark to remind me of were I've been artistically as well as being one of the first few pieces I entered into Elfwood.

The story behind this piece is actually a tad different from my other work. In 1999, I had to do a drawing for my high school art class in order to have something to base a painting off of and it had to be approved by the teacher at the time. Plus I wanted to try painting something I had a vested interest in at the time, so while I was flipping through my handy monster manual inspiration struck. And, lucky for me the teacher approved the image; however, the finished painting is just a tad too large to scan in that it dwarfs most scanners I have access to.

As for the title, it was one of those funny one liners I came across while reading up on other group sessions via a D&D online site I was, and still am, a member of.

Hey, you should definitely find a way to scan in the painting if it's at least as cool as the drawing. ^_^ I love the facial structure, and his outfit's really cool too (nice shoes). 12

:-) Shannon R. Jones-Wereschuk replies: "Umm.. Thanks.. but I can't take the credit for the style of the Kobald... I can only technically take credit for the background.. I can't remember the name of the artisit who's work I looked at to immulate this particular character.. But I'll try some day to get a copy of the painting I did up in Elfwood to show the similarities between this and the other.. "

Hey well agin its me and i like it but i must agree he looks like something off of star wars...

:-) Shannon R. Jones-Wereschuk replies: "*chuckles* I suppose if you wanted to cross the delicate balance between AD&D and Star Wars, character design would be the place to start first.. 12"
