SciFi and Fantasy Art: Renaissance faire posterHmmmm.. This one is my original work, I am involved in the faire, and the process of its creation. The poster is a few years old, nbut the fair is going strong. There are, on the poster: a princess, two knights, a dragon, a king, a queen, a peasant, a wizard, a fool, and a bard. I'm rather proud of the poster itself, the boldness of the colors on the flags, the shading on the princess' hair... Well, all kinds of stuff! The banner looks kind of crappy in the scan, but I like the way it came out overall. The flower on the banner's nifty too... well, must stop rambling... Oh, an by the way, if you live in PA or Jersey, or so, and are interested in a two day re-faire, e-mail me at Quetzalwnd2@aol.com, or medieval@kutztown.edu

| 13 Jun 2003 | Chunky Chihuahua <jodrag | Ooh, this is cool. I LOVE Ren-Faires...how did you get involved in this one? Do you have to be a certain age (over eighteen, etc.), or have "connections"? I've ALWAYS wanted to be a part of the whole thing... I dunno. Just e-mail me (jodragonfire@hotmail.com) or something if you get a chance. And, of course, this is a really good drawing--congrats on having it made into an advertisement | |

| 26 Oct 2005 | Elizabeth Katie Braak | Very Nice. I actually work at the Bristol Ren-Faire in Wisconsin. As for some of the questions above. I varies from faire to faire, but age usually isn't a problem unless your very young and don't have a guardian (we have a 3 month old at our faire). As for getting in, some faires you just call up and volunteer, others you have to audition for, however, 'connections' are never a bad thing to have. As for what goes on there, again, at different faires, different things depending on the time period, country, and focus, ie:military. But usually there are entertainers, shops selling period or fantasy wares, a king or queen, or at least someone historically famous and info on the time period. Our Faire is the biggest in the U.S. so there's jousting, sword duels, yeoman and courtiers (I am officially the lowest ranking noble in court!) lots of shows from around the world, William Shakespeare, wandering minsterals, fire-eaters, hundreds of shops, etc, etc. So basically they're fantastic! As for Rebecca, in England and Wales there are at least 14 Ren-Faires, usually around castles and medieval towns, you can find out at http://www.faires.com/location.php which lists most of the Faires in the world. I love the picture, we need more Faire related works in the woods. Keep up the Fantastic Work! | |
| 17 Aug 2008 | Haverwench | I hate to point this out, but you’ve spelled "Renaissance" with two n’s.
Nice poster otherwise. Sounds like a good Faire.
