SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lithelimb the ent (LOTR)

A multi-media and polymer clay sculpture inspired by tolkien. (And, indirectly, my summer job) His name is Lithelimb, and he is NOT supposed to be treebeard. I have yet to see the Two Towers movie, and so this is entirely from my imagination. His body is formed of polymer clay built around an aluminum (Okay! Okay! Aluminum foil, I admit it!) armature. His eyes are glass beads, (As are the eyes of his companion) and his crown of leaves is a plastic and wire garland purchased at a craft store. The coin he holds is an American nickel to help express his size. I like him, dangit! He is no longer in my posession, because I sold him to a LOTR fan. Oh yes, as I was saying, it relates to my summer job because I worked for 'Middle Earth Studios' over the summer, and at one point spent the day dressed as an entwife. It was a HEAVY costume, and I was warm, but it was fun.

I think this looks cool. I haven't seen many clay works on elfwood before but you got them locked down so far =)

How long did it take to make?

:-) Shara E. Donohue replies: "Thanks! IT took um... a long time? Probably about 20 hours, considering the frustratingly long time it took doing and then re-doing the bark. (not included are the hours f trying to figure out what the baby ent should look like... argh!) I'm glad you like him, as soon as my ticket gets processed, there will be another ent up, this one silver. Thanks for commenting! -Shara"
