SciFi and Fantasy Art: '12 Dancing Princesses' Stained Glass drawing

Wow. *gurgles* I have been workign on this piece for over a year, and have finally (mostly) finished it. Anything I do from here on is optional. every single mosaic piece has been individually hand colored, shaded, etc. with my prismacolor pencils. The concept comes from a fairy tale entitled, 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses.' A story I was fond of largely for the imagery. REALLY short version... Twelve princesses in one room, can be locked in, but still, every morning their shoes are worn out, and they are exhausted. King sets a prize for whoever finds out why. Many fail. Common boy/soldier gets cloak of invisibility and follows them. They go through a forest, first part has trees of SILVER, the second GOLD, the third CRYSTAL.THey dance, observed, get discovered and everybody's happy, The End. I have desired to create that forest since I was very young, and could find no way to do it. this is the closest I have come to satisfaction. Enjoy.

What a lovely idea and I can't even imagine the detail work you had to put into this piece. I really enjoy the transition from silver to gold to crystal. Well done!

oooh I like this! The detail is uber and I wish i had such patience! You could try to make wire trees of silver and gold wire and for crystal add crystals instead of leaves. It would look cool wouldn't it. I don't know the story but this rocks! *thumbs up*

The twelve dancing princesses is one of my favorite fairy tales and that is almost exactly what i imagined the forest to look like- i especially like the diamond trees- as someone who has played with prismacolors i can only imagine how tired your hand must have gotten...

Seeing this it feels like I can almost hear the sound of the crystals in the wind mixing with metal leaves like wind chymes (sorry 'b out spelling)... Great job!! The details stand out ^_^

I have a question...How come you didn’t put the princesses in the picture? I don’t know how anyone would know that this is about the 12 Dancing Princesses when they’re not in it.
It’s a nice picture over all though.
