SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mars II

Endevour II log 11/10/2090

Sensors indicate large artificial stucturs on planets surface. Suggests posibility of highly organised or possibly intelegent life forms. Life forms detected in high concentrations at these structures.

A follow up, nearly two years later, to the original Mars picture. Here the termite like colonies found during the Voyager 3 mission appear to have advanced, builiding large structures similar to our own sky scapers. The large chasam running accross the picture is the largest canyon in the solar system (can't rember the name of it though) dwarfing the Grand Canyon here on Earth. It should give some idea on how large the 'city' is. Like the original this was done in Deep Paint using the acrylic brush (my favourite). I almost certainly won't be remaking all of the planets, but might be constructing a couple of new ones. Particually around Quaoror, a dwarf planet (unser on spelling there).

That’s fun : I did quite the same shapes in my illustration of March in my book 22 1

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Oh really? Quite a conicidence then. The "buildings" were rather fun to do."

Valles Marineris is the name of the canyon in question. Olympus Mons is the largest volcano on Mars and solar system. 12

It’s a good picture and I also like the angle of it, sort of like an aircraft surveying the landscape or a lander taking pictures during its descent.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Oh I knew about Olympus Mons, just not Valles Marineris. I get my nice big book on space on the Weekend, which will probably result in one or two more pictures in a couple of months. It’s a Christmass present that never got read before Uni."
