SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Spider

The second part of what will now be a tryptic (the first being 'The Fly'). Again find the skeletons to find the size of the spider. Also you might want to count the legs...

Took me a while but I did find the skeletons - my! what a man-eater! Legs?? ok, had to count, ah yes, ten of them - definitely a fantasy spider (well, at least I hope so, don't want to find a back-yard terror like that in my garden) - maXine 1

The South American bird eating spider has a leg span of about 10 inches or about 25 centimeters. But this one is much larger. It almost looks like there's a spotlight on the spider. Great drawing.

(Walks off singing, "Spider man, Spider man. Does what ever a spider can. Spins a web, any size. Look out, here come the Spider man. . . .")

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "It's not a spot light as such. It's supposed to be a gap in the web. If I saw one of those bird spiders I'd probably go 'cute!'. But then I'd scream if I walked into a garden spider's web."

Aww... it's adorable, and it has such cute legs. The skeletons look to have been there awhile, though, which either means 'eek', or the thing is losing its touch... I'm leaning toward the former, honestly...

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Yes, I'd lean towards the former too...and away from the spider."

Adorable? I’m slightly concerned about Kim’s (above) view on what’s adorable... IT’S FREAKY!!!! This is even scarier than your spider plant! (But oh so cool!)

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "It’s your swiss army knife spider."
