SciFi and Fantasy Art: Bathing in the River of Sorrow... Alone

Pheonix lies over a river stretched out on a tree branch. Her usually emotionless self is shed away as she mourns the loss of her love... who would've thought a gargoyle warrior like her could love? ... let alone change her completely! This colored pencil piece was done in 1998, and to this day remains my mother's favorite <and she's pretty tough on my work!> The over all mood set of the piece reveals to the viewer that even monsters can have hearts... even when they refuse to show them. Pheonix is (c) me.
