SciFi and Fantasy Art: Spirit of the OutbackStanding in the evening sun, a dingo whirls around a long flat stick at the end of a string, he is making an anchient phone call. The buzzing of the device carries for miles from atop the monolithic red stone mass he clings to. Possibly one of the landmark pieces in my collection. See if you can figure out why? How is it different from my other computer rendered pieces? | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 26 Dec 2001 | Ice Dragon | What is it with Americans having such a passion for the whole outback deal--it's not nearly as romantic to live here as you think!! To be honest, I love Queensland, and I love dingoes, but it's over romanticizing something that really isn't all that special. HOWEVER, I love the artwork, it itself is to die for!!! Keep up the good work!! | |
| 25 Feb 2002 | Jennie Lynn Brass, A.K.A Foxy | <LOL> Well, Ice Dragon, just to let you know, Sydney <the dingo in the picture> would be ANYTHING but romantic. Ummm, this particular pic would be where I discovered the preset gradiant fills and, well... needed a cool pic to use it in. Sydney's "phonecall" sketch was simply convenient. And, yes, I do know living in Australia isn't so romantic...my dad lived there in his youth, I have TONS of stories from him! | |
| 10 May 2002 | Ravenwolf, the gryphon | Not bad, not bad at all, as to ice dragon, we cant live there, so why not fantasize? | |
| 20 May 2002 | Willoak Ultimata Sonnieta | Exactly Ravenwolf! You can fantasize anytime you want Ice Dragon Just with this beautiful picture. After all "we all live in our fantasies & endure our realities" said R. A. Wilson (who?) wise words | |
| 22 May 2002 | Jennie Lynn Brass, A.K.A Foxy | <chuckles> Thanks Ravenwolf and Willoak Ulitimata Sonnieta! And you're 100% correct--most art is not made to reflect reality, but our dreams and fantasies. | |
| 25 Jul 2003 | | I've never been to the outback, but I really want to visit Australia anyway! It's my first pick! Anyway, I love the picture! It looks like he's swinging a bull-roarer around. Those things are cool. | |
