SciFi and Fantasy Art: Statuesque DiraSkyriaA drawing of a statue (*grin*) presented in the main underground temple of DiraSkyria, of, of course, DiraSkyria. She is the goddess of True Evil, and anyone discovered to be worshiping her is, of course, prosecuted, and so the temple must be hidden away. There is a LOT of symbolism in this picture! The sword, pointed downward, does not mean passiveness as it usually does. with the way her hand is curved around it, it is to symbolize the act of stabbing it downward into a person's chest or the back of a fallen enemy. The little globe represents the seven magicks, and there are runes (missed by the scanner) on the pedistal to resemble the six lands of Aryneth. There is the scar, to resemble that DiraSkyria is actually two beings melded together. There's more, but I think i've mentioned enough for right now! | |

| 16 Jun 2001 | Gonff <Gonff292@aol...com> | Well, I took these symbols in a different manner than intended, but hey, that's art, aye? By the look of her face, and the fact that she leans away from the blade, I see a bit of resistance in killing. And the curve of her fingers tells me she's trying to grasp something, that she has a point, a meaning, a goal. And the fact she's about to stab, downward, I see she has a point in the killing... But hey, that's what it meant to me! It was a bloody good picture with a certain ability that makes people think, and comprehend. I'd love to see more of this, metaphorical art, in a way! Keep up the excelent hand in sketch! *a smile* The leaning back was one of the symbolisms unmentioned, for the exact reason you mentioned. See, DiraSkyria isn't as "True Evil" as she'd like to believe, and so there actually is reluctance. And the grasping you mentioned? need I bring up that evil beings are ALWAYS grasping for more? Wonderful statements here, thank you very much for taking the time to be so analitical on my pathetic little drawings. | |
| 11 Aug 2001 | Aquial | Oh, what a wonderful picture...her face, her dress, her hair. The look on her face...it...it's so confusing and...evil...but so beautiful I don't see how it could be....she seems like the a Lady DeWinter type of person to me...will she ever leave her true and evil ways????.....*in awe* | |
| 12 Jul 2002 | Rachel A. Fritzsching | Wow! The detail in this is awesome!! I like it!! | |
| 30 Oct 2002 | S. Hudson | so much detail.... AMAZING detail. Those things you pointed out in the description come across very well, she certaintly looks like shes stabbing someone, probably in the back! and the scar and magic globe are very effective as well! | |
| 14 Mar 2003 | Samael | The scanner just does not do this justice, does it? I'd like to see the original, if you still have it pocketed away in one of your countless sketchbooks. The pose, details, symbolism, there's just too much to comment on. This is esquisite. | |
