SciFi and Fantasy Art: 'HARVEST SEASON, Y3K'

© 1999 Slawek Wojtowicz. Overcrowding on Earth and mastery of all secrets of photosynthesis forced farming out into space. These automated farms are are dispersed throughout the Solar System and produce more food that is required by current human population. Significant amounts of food are exported to recently settled star systems.

Hmmm... I am reminded of the movie "Silent Running". Your work is so beautiful; I'm sure that all of my fellow sci-fi nerds are drooling, too... XD

so... real...
You sure you're not working for some secret governmental agency and are leaking secrets to us of their latest experiments?
Very cool
We need more imaginations like yours in this world.

To Louise E. Nunn:
Well, actually the spheres ARE removed during the harvest-process. You can see that in the slight background, where the harvesting ship takes one of these spheres up. Look closer on the pictures you comment on.

You might be right with the reflections, they seem to come mainly from the metal parts - but one can argue about that for sure.

To Jacob S. Wendel:

What do you mean by the ship doesn't look very effective?
Well, it's a lot of work to bring up those spheres and replace the food with new small plants, but the design itself is effective. It must be built fast, inexpensive and must have much room for the food. No extras needed.

I really like the idea and there is much more I could write about my thoughts about this picture.
