| 7 Jan 2008 | Megan ´Angler´ Proverbs | I think this would be better without the photoshopped spotlight, to be honest, as it looks a bit disparate against the graphite pencil. Perhaps you could try and create the same look with pencil. It would be a lot harder, but if you could get it right I think it would be worth it. You're going for quite a complicated lighting effect and perspective (good on you for trying that!). It almost works, but I think with that sort of lighting you need more contrast. Like, really DEEP shadows on the walls. The angel statue could use some shading on her to bring out the contours of her body and shape of her feathers, too. The black stone monument thing in the middle looks cool, though. If the figures in the triangle were a tiny bit bigger, so that we can see they're people, I think the sense of scale would be more impressive. Or maybe you could try another picture which is from people-height looking *up* at the vast winged statue looming over them instead of from way high above. (Just a suggestion, anyway. ^^) I'm by no means an expert as I'm too lazy to do backgrounds on my own pictures, so you can ignore all that if you don't agree with it. The concept of the picture is really nice and it does have a 'huge mysterious ancient chamber' feel to it. Sascha Meyer replies: "Thats what I call a coment ;-) I agree with you with that photoshop spotlight. That dosn't work, was a nice try. To be honestly, I spend not a lot of time in drawing this picture, it was just a scene in one of my RPG adventures (Earthdawn). The size of the people point the huge size of the hall . Make the people bigger makes the hall smaler. The Angel is more a relief than a statue, that explains the abscence of shades (well, my shade skill is not very high...).Thanks for the idea with the changing the perspective! I will think about it! And Thanks for the constructive crtitic! " | |
