SciFi and Fantasy Art: Concept sketch: Black Armor

(uploaded 24Jan03) In-progress designs for a set of dark armor my character Andorus was forced to don in several co-authored stories I've worked on in the past. The armor was more clunky in the past; I'm working on streamlining it a bit, and I guess making it more effeminate. The overcoat isn't transparent; I just wanted to get a good idea of the armor underneath as well as the overall. It's all in shades of black and grey, and I'm still working on details, but that's the basic gist. (And I know the perspective with her sword, which is pointed towards the viewer, is off--I'll fix that later.) This is the first serious thing I've sketched after several months of artist's block, so...it's close to what I want, so I was somewhat successful, I think. O:o)

Done in mechanical pencil. (I'm really simple when it comes to my mediums of choice--must branch out more...)

Oh, man, this picture is AWESOME! Stupid dunderheads are too lazy to comment. Oh, that reminds me, last time I forgot to do this, so I will now **does the first comment dance, indian style** whee!
Okay, to the piece of art. It's spectacular, I LOVE it! Even though it's a simple sketch, I love the figure who is wearing the armor, even though you drew her (it's a her, right?) just for the purpose of fitting the armor, you still got the figure anatomically correct, so I congratulate you on that. Also, I love the way I can see every piece of the armor. It's very beautiful armor! Each piece of it is strong, powerful, and unbreakable, yet with a certain air of femininity and elegance to it as well. It doesn't look like really weird unusable armor and yet it remains creative and unique aside from the traditional ways of armor. Does this armor style come from a certain country that your character who's gonna wear it was born at? Anyway, very lovely armor, and as for that dagger she holds, it does look a bit odd, but so what, the armor is the main focus, which looks great. And someday when this picture is fully done I know everything will be so perfect about it will blow me away. As for now, this piece of art awes me all by itself, it's incredible!

**Thumbs WAY up, cheers, applause, ENCORE, and MANY 10+s! ***grin* I see a trend in your commenting style. ;o) Thank you! The armor derives from a bunch of sources--some based loosely off anime, others based off conceptual ideas my friends and I came up with (more the latter than the former). And the weirdness of her sword is due to my inability to do perspective properly; it's actually a full-length sword, pointed roughly at the viewer. ^^; I'll be doing more armor sketches, hopefully some finished pieces (HAHA, me, do a finished piece? *snicker*), in the future. 19)

The drawing is descent but I don't share the same enthusiasm as the first guy.No offense to the guy who did this but I'm only 16 and the drawings I do blow this one out of the water. Its good, yes but I can do better.Wow, THAT'S mature. Tell you what: stop hiding behind anonymity and give me proof that you're an artist and not someone looking to leave petty little ego-boosting comments like this in random galleries, and then I'll consider taking you seriously. No real artist would ever feel the need to parade their talent around and try and tell other artists that their work isn't as good. Grow up. (And learning spelling and grammar wouldn't hurt, either. And reading comprehension. I'm female.)

I love this. It seems so, well, I know it seems to say strange for a mere sketch, but the armour looks fantastic, and the anatomy is so very accurate. And I'm sure that without the face, it looks much more better, cause it gives the viewer a chance to use their imagination and try and figure out the face. Just looking at the body, I would imagine a very beautiful face, yet with a certain tough quality to it.

What I'm trying to say is,
Excellente`!
