SciFi and Fantasy Art: Troll Toll (Colored)

Remembering that I had promised to get around to coloring this little sketch many moons ago, I gave it a run this week, as a cold kept me from doing much else. This is the same sketch as 'Troll Toll', only colored in PaintShop Pro (fairly quickly and without much care). At first my lackadaisical effort annoyed me, but I started to like the fact that I was coloring it in a unrealistic, simplistic matter, for it somewhat adds to the humorous nature of the original image.

BTW, I was going write a short little piece to go along with this one, as I felt I was cheating visitors by only giving them another colorized version, but while the story itself came quickly to me, I could not come up with a name for this somewhat timid and naive guy. Any suggestions would be welcome!

To me, he looks like a Termond, a Dermot, or a Marty. Hope it helps. (a guy like that named Marty, lol) I think it fits, though.

:-) Raymond W. Soderlund replies: "He could always be a Termond or something similar, but all the humans don't believe he'd have a name like that and given his disposition, just call him 'Marty'...perhaps even when tries to correct them. "But...my name is Dermot.""Sure, Marty. Look, this cow hide will do. Move along...""

he does seem to be being a good sport about it - i'm sure he'll find something in there of some value to the bridge guards - the whole scene has a sort of (monty) pythonesque feel about it - ... ~12

Actually, I like this version a lot more than the original B&W. S'cool

I think you should name him "joe", since "joe" is so original. Don't you think your troll kinda seems like that. I mean come on, "joe" is the kinda of name a friendly person would have.

:-) Raymond W. Soderlund replies: ""Joe" almost makes me think that his birth name should be some pretentious, 'too-many-syllables' version of Joe...after all, a troll with a six syllable, fancy sounding name would probably have been beaten by his chums. 1"

I see you got rid of the mountains. Y'know - I never noticed his tongue in the black and white ... heh. And that's a very clean loincloth!

:-) Raymond W. Soderlund replies: "I removed the mountains because they were mostly a place holder photo I used in the B&W image to just add something to it. Yeah, the tongue is really undefined in the b/w version, although you'll see it if you look for it. My goal initially was to give him a goofy, digging in his pockets look...unfortunately, I never did get him in a dyanmic enough pose.As for the loincoth, I think he's just starting out on his journey and decided to put on a new pair of clothes before setting off...besides, given how untypical this guy is, he might just be a neat freak. 1"
