I think it's nice that your artwork is flattering to Amy Brown's style, but you should try and develop your own style-- even the background of punk faery 3 (the speckles on a weathered monocolor) is the same as what Amy Brown does. Amy Brown as well as many watercolor artists (non-fantasy as well) have used these techniques for many years. Branching off from Brian Froud, she basically redefined the genre. And, for that reason the same could be said for almost any faery artist nowadays, but the truth is that it is its own genre with a large community of artists. Techniques and subjects may overlap but no more than within any other specialty genre like fantasy fiction or film noir." | |
