SciFi and Fantasy Art: Galadriel

I've seen a lot of pictures of Galadriel in the evening, when she's showing the Hobbits her mirror, but I've seen few of her during the day. I decided to do so---partially as an exercise in painting sunlight, but also because I think of Galadriel as a 'morning person.' The pose is a little unusual; sooner or later I'm going to get around to painting the rest of the scene so it's in context. This was painted exclusively on the computer, no preliminary pencil sketch.

The way the morning sun hits that ring is stunning, and it doesn't even take away from the rest of the picture! I love your use of colors and light, and to think, you did it all on your computer! Amazing, outstanding talent.

You think of her as a morning-person? That's very interesting. I agree, the evening is occupied by Arwen, but having the picture of the fading power of the elven rings in mind, I always thought of Galadriel as fall and early night, nightfall. Very interesting... *scratches ear*

Yeah, I also think of Galadriel as a morning person (elf)..
Eomer (I think) says so too. To Gimli, when he first sees her next to Arwen.
But Barbara is right, in a way. Only that the fading of the rings is the nightfall for all elves, not just Galadriel.

I love this portrait, so beautiful and sensible. I don't imagine Galadriel like this, in my mind it looks more like Goldberry, too much human perhaps. But it's a great picture nevertheless, and I love the colours.

It seems to me more of a young Galadriel. Before thousands of years of the curse of the Noldor had troubled her. I don't get that sense of ancient wisdom from this picture, but more of youthful innocence.
Still it's very beautiful.

I like this a lot. Its a very different sort of portrayl of her...one of my favorite characters in anything, ever. Your right of course, Galadriel is associated more with morning than evening, but the Mirror scene is the one most often illustrated. Nice work!
