SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hallway

This was my first attempt at a computer version of grisaille--at least, I think that's what it was called--an old-fashioned technique in which an underpainting in shades of grey was glazed with transparent color. Being much lazier than my forebears, I did the glazing with a paint program (Painter Classic over charcoal) instead of with oil paints, but I like the effect. The monastic look of the place is just what I was going for, and I'm extremely pleased with the way the light slants through the windows. You may notice the name 'Lylia' at the base of this picture; that's the name of my Gemstone character, who purportedly 'painted' this. Even the nastiest Sorceress needs a few hobbies. ;)
