SciFi and Fantasy Art: Arotrin

Arotrin is a creature possessed of frightening power. It was the creation of an ancient race of depraved sorcerers. Legends say that these sorcerers desired to create themselves a weapon. So, they sent their minions out to gather the most fearsome, the most horrifying monsters and demons in the land. Among the creatures they found were the Greater Jade Fiend, the King of the Vaapolisks, the Krakenbeast, and the Tessirimera. Once the sorcerers had their diabolical menagerie, they slaughtered all of the fell beasts, and from the pieces, the sorcerers built a new creature. A creature of the purest evil. A creature named Arotrin.

According to ancient texts, Arotrin could 'drink magic,' and even though the strongest of weapons could strike its flesh, to actually injure it was like trying to cleave water in half. It breathed forth both a miasma and a white-hot flame. All who came near it risked contracting the 'Withering Death.'

Eventually, Arotrin did battle with a band of mighty heroes, and was buried alive beneath a mountain, where it sleeps to this day.

The color is dazzaling. Dont take it down.

1 Stanton F. Fink replies: "Not to worry: I'm not going to take it down. At least, not until I make a better version... Which won't be for a long time."

It's getting wilder by the day. I love it! 1

1 Stanton F. Fink replies: "Thank you, this time, I hope that this version has a half life of over a year."

Hmmmm...the background makes it a little difficult to see the actual creature. I had to look at it for a moment to make sure I was seeing it correctly.

But then, I'm also tired, dizzy and sick...so it might just be me.

I agree with the above comments... the colours are almost too dazzling. Took me a minute to recognize the drawing contained within.

However, I think somehow that works for it well. There's something effective about how incoherent this mixed beast looks.

I don't know what I'd do if I saw Arotin ready to strike. I'd probably be dead. It not from wonder, then from a "What...the...hell!?" stance. So many colors, it must be confusing to realize what you are fighting before it is too late.
