SciFi and Fantasy Art: Daitya Hazra

Daitya Hazra, 'The Horror Within the Fiery Darkness,' had a taste for attacking his victims through their dreams. Ultimately, those who could no longer resist the onslaught of nightmares would die, and be reborn as his unliving slave. Such unfortunates can be easily recognized by the rictus grin burnt into their faces.

I... Think I'll stick with Cthulhu. I like tentacle dreams and stuff better'n burnt bones any day. Hazra certainly does have keen fashion sense, though. Gotta love that ruffle! Ohohooohoooo! RUFFLES and Stantonese script! Oh how they do flow together so NICELY! Um... Slipped there.

Really nice outfit on this one - I like it a lot. Where can I get a robe like that? Also...w hat's with the actual person/Daitya? Is he pointing and laughing at something? That's... quite the break from typical Daitya behaviour, I thought.

Actually I just got this weird vision of him asking Kreshkatara to pull his finger.

DARN YOU JEFF!!!!! (It serves me right for paying so much attention to a saxophone player that could have doubled for Conan the Barbarian). I feel violated.

Your pantheon is incredible. Very Lovecraftian, while mainting it's own twisted spirit. I would love to play ("Real") roleplaying campaign that you ran.

I had to comment on this one, as my online moniker is Rictus.

Create, dude! I like the concept and the art too, although the kanji seems a little stilted somehow, said by someone who certainly could not do better. But aside from becoming a master in the art of Oriental caligraphy, I think this picture would be much improved with the addition of a background, even perhaps merely an elaborate frame, adding to the impression of it being an illustration in an ancient text. All in all it's a nice peice though, love the costume.

:-) Stanton F. Fink replies: "Mind you, all of the Daitya and Injasura pictures are currently unfinished. I'm getting them colored as I type."

This is just amazing and not just the pic (which i love his robes are so great they reamind me of...Something i cant put my finger on) but the story to him. Wouldnt that just me the greatest way to die your sleeping and you are dreaming then the dream turns to nightmare and its twisted turned and you cant wake up out of it you see all these things, answers to life mysteries, beautiful things that no one has ever seen before. Then out of the odd pictures you see him emerge from the swadows. He then kills you in your dream and you can see it but then you die in the dream and in real life. You never wake to tell of the things you saw.

Invader of the dreams. That is a truly frightening thought. Dream, in and of themselves, are not something one can control, and to know there is one out there who can mingle with that very thing is almost enough to wish there was caffeine in this land of yours.
