SciFi and Fantasy Art: Purpurargentaspis sphaerops
Purpurargentaspis sphaerops is an unusual common acanthichthid that forms huge schools in the deepsea of Tlaquanaru. Their scales form thick armor, and few predators attack P. sphaerops due to its large dorsal/ventral spines. Above the three shown here, is Siphonaria vampirus an aberrant pelagic pupasalmid whose eggs parasitize P. sphaerops. Originally, S. vampirus was described as an aberrant pandoraichthid, but in-depth anatomical examinations place it with the pupasalmids. Behind all four is the head of Panoplichthys imperator, P. sphaerops' and S. vampirus' major predator. Coincidentally, P. imperator also plays host to Siphonaria's eggs, as well.
Umm....yup....not hard to understand I think. Stanton F. Fink replies: "What's not hard to understand about a fish, and its main parasite, and predator?"
