*gasp* iorek looks so wonderful! to think that an armoured bear, the mightiest of all beasts could be defeated and made so sad by the removal of the only thing he could ever call his soul... it makes me so sad! *sniffle* i think you have captured the mood perfectly, nice work.

P.S. its northern lights! northern lights, i tell you! not the golden compass! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to let anyone who's interested know, the movie comes out November 2007, with Dakota Blue Richards playing Lyra!!! ^^ lovely drawing, Iorek is one of my faves!!

Second of all... the movie...
Nicole Kidman is playing Miss Colture and Daniel Craig is playing Lord Asriel. Dakota Blue Richards has brown hair and she was picked out of abseloutly thousands of girls to play the part.

I would not see this movie because they will ruin the entire spirit of the book, such as the war on God, and all of the links between Lyra and Eve and temptation (the apple) and marzipan/red fruit.

Just thought I'd get that off of my chest.

Hey!Keep to the subject, anonymous! It's the publisher's fault, not us Americans', that the book was called The Golden Compass and not The Northern Lights. They changed it because there was already a book called The Northern Light. So dont't you call us stupid and talk about the PICTURE for heaven's sake!

This is amazing.. Has it won an award cuz dog darn it should! The book is The Northern Lights over here and The Golden Compass in america, whats the problem, its still the same absolutally amazing book, lol..

Anyways this is just how i imagined Iorek and colours are brilliant, its really cold and windy looking, aww I want to cuddle him! =]

Hey! Amazing work! Iorek is sooooooo cute and I like him better without his armor even though it makes him sad. Im not into fantasy anymore (actually, now I hate it) but I still love the first golden compass book. It’s not so much fantasy, but kind of science fiction I guess. Aw well, great work!
