SciFi and Fantasy Art: Soul of Steel

'A rending, splintering sound made them all look back at the house...then the window tore open completely, and out climbed Iorek Byrnison, the bear in armor.
Without it, he was formidable. With it, he was terrifying. It was rust-red, and crudely riveted together: great sheets and plates of dented discolored metal that scraped and screeched as they rode over one another. The helmet was pointed like his muzzle, with slits for eyes, and it left the lower part of his jaw bare for tearing and biting.' -Philip Pullman 'Armor' The Golden Compass

i love it! its a realistic design which i love but maybe some leather straps should be visable cos it kinda looks as if its just suspended on him. also i know its pandantic of me but that quote comes from Northern Lights and at no point is a golden compass mentioned.

Well, it would appear the pulishers used different titles for the trilogy in the UK and USA - in America the trilogy is published as:
The golden compass
The subtle knife
The amber spyglass

The first novel in the UK is Northern Lights, I understand? Any UK reader want to list them - I'm curious!

As for the art - it is quite good. However, I could wish the eye-holes were more slitty - it would make him more menacing.

It is absolutely stunning. Better than any picture I've been able to draw of him. I think the only thing that could ever make this picture better is color. Then you could see the white against the red metal. Very nice.
