SciFi and Fantasy Art: Anansi

This is my picture of the spider trickster Anansi from **I think** african folklore. My mom talks about this little guy all the time, saying that I'm so much like him, clever, but deceptive and manipulative. Loving, isn't she? Anyway, I just though it would be cool to draw him.

Hi, I came here via your commentary at muecke's elfwood gallery. And I'd really love to be able to use your spider for our Myra project, especially as in a miniature it seems to have a M on the back, which fits our spider goddess Marlilith quite well.
Maybe you'd like to checkout the webpage given or the background page at http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=myraworld to see what we're about.

(As for the title Anansi - have you read Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman? Isn't he great? I like the Thorne Smith style he picked for his newest book)

2 Stefania Zachary replies: "sure you can use it! flattered really. my goodness people like this spider! who is muecke though? i've commented on a lot of galleries, and i was wonderng what i said in this one."

1 Stefania Zachary replies: "thankies! those things made it take forever to make the spider symmetrical! it was quite aggravating."

That is a very nice spider design, even though I'm creeped out about them. I participate in the SCA (don't aske me what it stands for, I forget). Basically, it's medieval reenactment. I'd like to know if I can use this as my symbol, preferrably for my shield. If you have it, I'd like some sort of template as I'm not gifted in art so I can transfer it easily, or something of the sort. Either way, it makes an excellent symbol for anything. Job well done! Please e-mail me at iamthelou@yahoo.com, as I don't get to this site as often as I'd like.

Hey, I actually googled "Anansi" hoping to find a symbol for a tattoo idea I'm throwing around in my head. Your picture is perfect for what I had in mind. I hope you wouldn't mind me getting it as a tattoo?

:-) Stefania Zachary replies: "i don't mind at all! but i wouldn't mind getting a pic of the final result? you can email it to me at javabean_dreams@hotmail.com. thanks for asking! "
