SciFi and Fantasy Art: Thalantyr

First: Yes, I confess the name wasn't my invention, but I found it fitting. Second: I also know that this normally is not possible, but although Thalantyr is an elf, he's a necromancer, out of curiosity for Death, a phenomenon that is, at least to elves, very far away. When his clan found out what he was doing, they changed his name from Lightdancer into Nightwanderer and cast him out, and from that day on, he's wearing only black. Well, I had two reasons for drawing this picture; the first was that I wanted a necromancer who doesn't look evil, and second, I just had to try my new 8B pencil. ;-)

24 Oct 2000	retaR ardeiD	Loading... Very nicely done. Black and white pictures come out the best, I think, when you have such extreme contrasts of ivory and coal as you've used in this piece. I'd just try to get rid of that little white edge that you have around him. If parts of his hair and such blend into the background, that's okay; it makes it look more realistic, actually.

2 Jul 2002	Jüri Saks	Loading... hey you're pretty good with black clothes. and he not looking evil...refreshing...thank you. we have not-evil necromancers too in our D&D game. for instance hobbit/spiritlord(that's what we call necromancers). they gather spirits = their mana. A hobbit/spiritlord? That sounds REALLY interesting, even if I never play hobbits (the small races don't suit me). Tell me more! ;-)
