SciFi and Fantasy Art: Kokopelli

Kokopelli is a Hopi spirit, there are many legends about 'him'. I'm not going to tell any because I'm curious about stories other elfwoodies might tell about 'him'. But if yer really curious, just surf the web for more info..... This is my first 'successful' acrylic. I've discovered that the only way I can paint in acrylics is to start swiggin' the beer. For some reason I just can't do 'em sober.... (Acrylic/alcohol,2002)

All I know about Kokopelli is that it's pretty much our state's logo! lol
This looks really cool. I like it a lot! I think it looks sort of.. primative. lol that's because Kokopelli is.. okay, I'm rambling now. Your art is great! Love 'em all, tho they're disturbing! ^_^;

Heya - Thought I'd share a Kokopelli story for your adoring fans. heh. Kokopelli was in lust after a chief's daughter, and the chief, knowing this, put her on the opposite side of a canyon to keep her away from Kokopelli. Well, being the feisty little guy that he is (and a fertility god, to boot..hehe), he bypassed the chief's order by using his extremely LONG .. erm.. phallus...=D, spanning the gap of the canyon, and impregnating the chief's daughter anyway. Hehehehe...that's my favorite one that I've heard, anyway... I have Kokopelli tattooed on my arm, so I tend to collect stories. Heh...it's a beautiful rendition tho!! :::applauds wildly:::

:-) Steve Koons replies: "Ha Ha1 That's one of my favorite Kokopelli stories too! But I don't think I could post an illustration of it here. But I just might do one of it anyways! Maybe......hmmmmm......"

I am very impressed with your artwork; and it amuses me that you can not do them sober, lol. Kokopelli fascinates me for probably the same reason coyotes fascinate me; they are loners, survivors... both have hints of bitter-sweet existances... I relate to all of this; it is me, my life... I have traces of Cherokee Indian in me; & having been raised to be very proud of that small trace of a heritage by my cherished Daddy (who has gone on to the Happy Hunting Ground, but forever present in my melancholy soul)... I somehow find solace in my adoption of Coyotee as my i.d., since I am forever bound in solitude & sorrow & forever searching for that happy tomorrow... So, you see, I am the kokopelli_coyotee.
