From The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, first in C.S.Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia...

Edmund's treachery condemns him to death at the hands of the White Witch. In what is arguably the most crucial and beautiful scene in the entire series, Aslan the Lion, the king of Narnia, offers his life to the enemy in exchange.

'But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed...He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.' (Isaiah 53:5, 7)

26 Apr 2006	Daughter of Eve	Loading... Absolutely chilling. But wonderful. Because Aslan is supposed to be Jesus Christ, it makes it all the more sad, because though Aslan's death was sad, Jesus' death was real, though Jesus Christ did rise again.
