SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Horse and His Boy

Fifth book in the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, if you're going by original publishing order.

I love how Shasta and the horses came out in this. Not so wild about Aravis.

Digital painting.

It looks great only Aravis looks kinda old...

I'm sorry, but I must also agree with the above, his head would probably look better if it were just a bit thinner and longer, but I absolutlry love the rest of the picture. Keep up the great work.

Cool. The horse looks like he's having way too much fun. Not that that's a bad thing. I love the city in the background. I always figured the Calormenes(sp?) to be Arabs.

This is awesome as I've never seen a lot of Narnia illustration in the woods here. I love Sasha, but I think the horses could use a little more definition. Although I love how intelligent they look! =D

Bree!!! i can’t wait until they make that one a movie- a talking horse as one of the stars! which is also why i like the book.........

I like the sand dunes, and the horses really turned out great - I like Bree’s excited face expression especially! Narnia and the North! Broo-hoo~ ^_^

That’s great! That’s exactly how I pictured Shasta! I love the expression on Bree’s face!

I love Bree’s expression! Hwin looks like the gentle horse she is, just as Bree looks like a wild and fun-loving stallion. His face is a bit short though, but we’ll say it’s the angle. And I think you did a great job with Aravis, the dress and Calormene jewels look awesome! Her hair is pretty fun too. XD The only problem I find with her is: shouldn’t she be darker than Shasta?

I absolutely loved this book! I also had it on tape and listened to it over and over again on long car journeys when I was little. Your picture is beautiful; I love the details (especially how you did hair and the tassles on Bree’s fancy martingale!) My only criticism is that I think his ears are rather small... but that is only a small thing.

Bree looks like he has a personality, which , of course, he does! Love it!
