| 6 Dec 2001 | Saberwolf | Interesting piece. Maybe technology IS becoming the new religion, my interpretation heh.
ink the deal with the adoption of Pagan beliefs into Christianity lies mainly in conversion. I.E. instead of forcing peoples' to abandon all their old traditions, Christian missionaries absorbed them into the Christian belief structure. For instance, Mary is a symbolic goddess figure and is the major symbol of worship in many areas. How many times can I say Christian?> My friend and I were talking about this the other day: she's a wiccan and I'm an Agnostic. DOn't worry about Christ, I think he represents the epitome of human suffering. | |
| 6 Dec 2001 | Rosie Smith a.k.a female fred | I agree with anonymous, i mean, almost all things though of as christian are actually pagan beliefs (for example, christmas - there used to be a massive pagan festival then) and thousands of people were crusified, not just christ, so why is he so special? Ok, rant over. Cool pic | |
| 6 Dec 2001 | Anonymous | it's a great picture... I think one thing that bothers me though, not about your picture, is that people keep thinking Christ was the only one crucified... I realize the cross is known for Christianity but... I could get myself into trouble here but... what the heck... I wonder if they also realize that halos, angels, grapes/wine... they're all pagan symbols used before Christianity! Halos for portraits of emperors... angels for demons or Gods and grapes or Dionysis/Bacchus... so many more... ah... anyway... great picture, very thought provoking, something you don't see much these days. | |

| 6 Dec 2001 | Tasha Kotraseva aka Isca Lox | This is great, very thought provoking. And yes, I agree with you about the technology/religion relationship I sometimes feel like doing sucrifices to the Internet and technology gods. | |
| 6 Dec 2001 | Jeni Gibbs | I love this idea--it's very thought provoking. It actually reminds me of the sentiments behind a Sci Fi story I recently read, "Good News from the Vatican" by Robert Silverberg. In his story, a robot has been elected to be the new Pope, and he explores the idea of technology and religion. It's a very interesting subject to think about.... | |
