SciFi and Fantasy Art: Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death . . .

Long title, isn't it? This is another depiction of an alleged Angel of Death, Sammael. Only this time, I tried to refine it in accordance with the info of commentators of the previous ones. Entirely done in pencil, this is one of the few where I actually spent some time (however short)on the background.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for I am the meanest sonofabitch in the valley. really kewl pic...I love creatures with wings!

Finally! Someone who knows who Samael is! Beautiful, dark Samael. BTW, he is no longer the angel of death. Azrael has taken that position. Sam is now the angel of Darkness. His name means 'Venom of God' and he is an avenging angel who does his work by night. I draw Samael as a female and I use the name as my artist name. Well, an effeminate version of the name anyway, because I identify with him so strongly. This is beautiful. I like your work!

My Own comment is best boiled down to a quote I've seen on EWlfwood... - "I thought swords had to be straight." - "Perhaps they start out straight and go bendy with use. A lot of things do."

He was only samael before his fall from grace, he is no longer an "angel" of any kind "angels of darkness" are just pretty words for demons of hell

Samael is the angelic form of him who, after his fall, is known as Satan. As once he was the Angel of Light (hence the Latin name Lucipher, or 'Bearer of the Lights'), now he has become a thing of darkness.

i will walk through the valley of shadow and death, and i shall not fear, for the lord, the god of love, and the god of all holy works and righteousness, is with me, i shall not fear, for there is nothing above the god of Israel.

not to be mean.....but... if your gonna take a scripture, make sure the good part is in it.

god bless you all,
