SciFi and Fantasy Art: Men of Rohan

The men of Rohan were patrolling their borders, where upon they came across a band of Ocrs, who were making, their way back to Mordor with two Hobbits (Merry & Pippin) that they had captured. The brave young men of Rohan fell upon the Orcs and battle commenced until all the Orcs were slain The inspiration for this painting came from Led Zeppelin song “The Battle of Evermore”; the song gives the feel of the yearning and exhilaration of young men for Battle

Gods, who do people think they are, saying this is terrible?! It's amazing! It captures the emotion with such vividry, I can finally understand why people did and still do go to war. The lighting does miracles for the emotion, which is just as important as a perfect depiction of the characters.

It's a bit like those renaiisance paintings potraying famous warriors all semi-nude and hellenistic when in reality they were nothing like.

Good job, I like it. A blast from the past.

Some people have no right to critiscize and their jsut jealous of the work so they make it out as bad. If you can't see that real beauty and value of this piece than you have no right to be an artist.

This is wonderful in my opinion. It has real emotion(no matter what others say) and captures Tolkiens point drastically. And if some people think that the guiy looks gay than that's their problem and someday they'll have to face up to their sick mind. And the hobbits look great! Who says that hobbits ahev to be gorgeous beyond comprehension? NO, hobbits are small pudgy little guys with big feet and fat bellies! 2 I thin that all your artwork is great and it's wonderful that you capture your idea of what Tolien's world is like. I think Tolkien would love this painting. 2

**********Who do they think they are? They must think they are nobody because they don't give their names. I really don't think they should be allowed to comment if they don't give a name----and an e-mail address. This is great and like one of the others said --this is your artistic version. Keep going!****

I really like the Riders of Rohan, but as some other people said, the orcs and hobbits look a bit off. In my opinion, they look a little like muppets (no offense). Otherwise, I think you really got the action of this scene down. That was one of the scenes of the Lord of the Rings that I felt Tolkien could have expanded on a bit--I couldn't get a clear picture of it in my head. I hope you do realize that Led Zeppelin based "The Battle of Evermore" on Tolkien's works, as well....great connection!
