SciFi and Fantasy Art: Wood Fairy

Wood Fairy. This one is entirely done on paper. The hard thing was to get the background entirely black.

you people are all stupid. thats all. oh yea, dude that drew this, effin brilliant, but. People dont like CRAZY drawings were you didnt start off with a square and make little cylinders and crap "if i paid $5000 bucks to get told how to draw a box its gotta be right!" even so, The Fairy doesnt do it for me, But, that background is awesome, brilliant blending with the shades, the water drops are excellently portrayed, nice work, perhaps do a remake of the same artwork without the fairy in it? it may be just me, but i love art without a focal point, because without one the entire work is the focal point, and people that dont realise that dont know jack, but they should because he is a nice man.

She is skinny.

Just because there was so much negativity:

I believe the face, as it is a face of a wood fairy, is good. This is a fairy, you cannot say what a fairy does or does not look like, since you have never seen them except in your own imagination. I like the vagueness of her features.

Again, she is a *wood fairy.* Meaning, if my definition of wood fairies are similar to the artist's, she is a mischievious little flyer, whose hair is bound to get messed up every now and then.

The hands could use some work, but, ~, have you ever seen a baby draw hands? Apparently not.

The line above her hip is a piece of her hair (use your eyes, please), the line below her breasts are her muscle, and as a fairy, she naturally has long legs. That is a generally accepted feature of many fairies.

Way too fat? According to Hollywood's 'less than a hundred pounds' standard? He's at least being realistic. There are enough super-skinny models; she has a nice, full figure.

The breasts are a bit high, but as for "way" high up, unless you want them sagging like an eighty-year old's, it's not very off.

I do love the background, and I feel for you... the total black is tricky. Good job, though. 2

~ has obviously never seen a naked woman before. the line above her hip is from her hip? and above that her ribs and fat, as is the bit under her breasts. Long thighs make her look more slender and fairy-ish, and as for the breast height? Stop looking at porno-perfect women and realise every one is different.

This is a great drawing.

I really hope Thomas is sitting back and laughing over some of these negative comments. It's called imagination, people. Not every sketch or drawing has to be of a huge curvy, busty, extra skinny, anime/manga/cartoonish styled woman. Think of the artist's perspective. And another thing, there's constructive critisim, and then there's just plain rudeness. ~ hasn't mastered the basic concepts of that yet. Now, this is a wonderful picture, and you did a remarkable job! It's not easy trying to blend in a dark backround, or give light and a different view to something so mystical. Excellent job!

I love her! Zezery!

She looks lonely. Or she's just playing hide and seek.

Thomas, from what I have seen of your work, you draw wonderfully! I like this one because of the fact that you have actually drawn here to be aerodynamic, and if there is such a thing for evolution for fairy kind, she shows it.

As for YOU, Anon, what I want to know is... WHERE is YOUR gallery of work at here, Mr/Ms. Art critic??? LET’S see some of your work!!! If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.

you know, Van Gogh wasn’t appreciated in his time either. Don’t sweat some of these negative comments made by narrow minded people! If you enjoyed drawing it then that’s what matters! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Good job!

This is a nice drawing, and i agree with some people before me. It’s good not to have every drawing of female faeries/elves looking like pornstars. Keep it up, John
