SciFi and Fantasy Art: Negative

Well this was a sketch that I scanned. The scanner added color where there was only black/white. I played with the color and made it darker and I think it looks kinda neat :) Gives it a kind of ghosty/misty/rainy feeling. And look - aha! An attempted background! lol.

She is a character from my story, but I'm not sure who she is yet. It will come to me in time.

Done in graphite pencils around September 2005.

0.o cool!
By the way: For the legs, what I know and have done, is that you scan the picture that fits, then scan the lower part. Carefully connect the chopped off legs and voila! Try it out, its worked for me!

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Hmm, I'll have to try that. Thanks for the tip!"

Like the background

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you 2 Yes, she is. She is struggling to make a decision that she does not want to make."

Wow, the background really fits to her worried and sad expression... all misty and cold and snowy-looking... I like the small details you put in, like the necklace hanging from her alicorn and the tear. I wonder what she could be worried about...

1 A. Thomason replies: "Yeah, I like how the background turned out, too. I don't do very well with backgrounds, so when it scanned and the scanner added some random colors I was quite happy with the effect 2 The necklace connects her to something... and for some reason she is considering letting that connection go. Thanks for the comment 2"

The horse looks wonderful *sobs* this is beautiful, the muscling is really detailed! *wipes eyes and goes bug eyed* WOOOOOOOWWWW! I Need to learn how to shade!

1 A. Thomason replies: "Glad you like her so much! Once you start shading it gets easier and easier as you learn where the muscles are placed 2 It's hard the first few tries (I still mess up sometimes =P ) but soon you'll get the hang of it. Thanks for commenting!"
